During his Washington stay, Prime Minister Sali Berisha held a meeting with members of the U.S.-Albania Friendship Association in American Congress. Attending the meeting were several Democratic and Republican legislators, association members like Eliot Engel, Gary Ackerman, Steve Rothman, Gene Green, Robert Aderholt, Gary Peters, Dana Rohrabacher, Steve Chabot.
Welcoming the prime minister, the congressmen expressed to PM Berisha their full commitment to promote friendship and successful cooperation between the USA and Albania as well as to support Albania in its efforts for consolidation of a functional democracy based on the free market as the country is making efforts on its way toward EU membership. The interlocutors said they were to stay in contact to this function.
PM Berisha expressed deep gratitude to the members of the Congress for the great U.S. contribution to further the very good relations of cooperation between the two countries and also for the generous assistance that the USA and the American taxpayers have given to Albania during all this period.
The interlocutors positively assessed Albania transformation in the recent years in all the fields as the country offers enormous potentials for the American investors. In this context, PM Berisha acquainted the members of the Congress with the reforms and achievements in all the fields, but even with Albania contribution in the framework of the North Atlantic Alliance and its efforts and reforms on its way of EU membership. The congressmen confirmed to the prime minister their full support to Albania and the government of Albania reforms.
Appreciating these achievements important, the members of the Congress congratulated the prime minister on the 100-th anniversary of the country independence and expressed the wish to visit Albania which as they put it offers a mosaic of natural beauties, development and dynamic transformations like no other country in the region.
